I honestly didn’t have too many big giveaways. I felt pretty normal the first few weeks – mainly feelings similar to regular PMS, such as slight cramps/discomfort.
I will say gas was a big one. I’m a fairly gassy person as is (sorry mom). 😂 Is this TMI? After all, I have Crohn’s Disease, so certain things just get to me. I’ve been taking lactaid pills when I eat dairy for awhile now that help with the majority of any side effects. I still might be a little gassy afterwards, but nothing out of the ordinary. Come pregnancy – the gas is real, and the gas is strong. Poor Mike! Good thing our house is full of yummy smelling candles. He is quick to light a candle and open the windows for some fresh Colorado air. 😇
I did notice slightly tender breasts. I had never had this before with the exception of my last period before getting pregnant. About a week before my last period had come, my breasts became tender for a couple of days, and then it went away. This time it has stuck around a little bit more. It’s nothing too severe or uncomfortable, more just slightly noticeable.
I also noticed feeling a little extra “burpy.” While I mentioned above that I can be a gassy girl – I’ve said my whole life that I do not know how to burp. People have always tried to teach me and it just isn’t something I know how to do. While I still can’t necessarily burp out loud, I’ve felt the feeling of a little bubble coming up in my throat, or just the feeling of having air stuck. A very slight feeling, which I assumed was coming from some indigestion or mild heartburn. This seems to have subsided.
The days right before finding out, I also noticed the feeling of being out of breath more often. Yes – we’ve moved to Denver and are in a higher altitude, but this isn’t something that had really bothered me beforehand. Sure, when I walk up a flight of stairs too quickly I need a minute to catch my breath, but it usually comes right back. In those early days, I had the feeling of not being able to catch my breath. I would be giving wedding tours at work and try to talk a little bit slower in hopes that they didn’t noticed I was trying to take a deep breath. Lol. Not sure if this is necessarily a common pregnancy sign – but it wasn’t something that I had felt before.
I wish I had more exciting things to say, but honestly got pretty lucky in skipping the bothersome symptoms. Reporting here at 23+ weeks and can say I am extremely grateful to be here without a nauseous morning!
